Yoga for Sport

I teach a practical, functional style of sport-specific yoga with a focus on yoga for runners, cyclists and triathletes. Sessions feature a blend of flexibility and core strength work with supplementary breathing or mental training techniques if required.
I can create tailored 1/2/1 sessions for any sport, including tennis, golf, rowing or rugby. I also teach small groups, run workshops, and work directly with clubs. I can supply enough mats, blocks and straps for up to 20 athletes.

Yoga for Sports

The training body Yoga Sport Science TM has united modern sports science with the ancient discipline of yoga to create a new blend of yoga which fills the ‘missing link’ in strength and conditioning training.
This type of yoga improves performance through:

  • Stretching techniques to prevent injury and maintain joint range of motion
  • Effective and efficient breathing
  • Core strengthening
  • Post-training ‘restorative’ stretches to speed up  recovery.
  • Mental training techniques adapted from yoga.

Classes

Lexie has run Yoga for Runners sessions for the Elmbridge Road runners and Yoga for Cyclists workshops for The London Dynamos cycling club and will come to your running  cycling or tennis club to provide a free taster session. Or form your own group of friends and divide the cost.

Private Lessons
Two cyclists might share the same sport but have very different bodies in terms of injuries, flexibility or lung capacity etc. Two cyclists might share the same sport but have very different bodies in terms of their flexibility or core strength. Lexie can conduct a biomechanics assessment and then create a tailored practice for that individual athlete.
